Happy Days: April 25, 2013

by Mary Feissinger
Well it turned off cold weather again after the much needed rain.  I just hope we don’t have floods to run us out of Cairo like 2011.  I know April is a bad month for floods.  If it hadn’t come that rain the Azalea festival wouldn’t have done as well. I had to go to the eye Dr. in Charleston, Mo. Fri. I had a severe eye allergy I guess this is the wind up of my sinus infection.  The Dr. gave me some eye drops for it.

We want to take time to send condolences to the family of Lynda Clark who passed away last week.  She had a terrible time and was on life support for quite awhile.  She was on kidney dialysis, which affected her heart.  We are losing our seniors rapidly one by one. Always remember our fellow seniors in prayer.  They are Tommy Ice which is doing well at this writing, Barbara Pulliam, Brenda Bone, June Laughlin, Kathryn Eppes, Nanie White, Patsy Simmons, Barbara Hoppe, Louise Sims, Marion Rose, Wila Coar des, Barbara Sneed,  Rosemary Peeks, Jack and Margaret Baur, Mary Satterfield, Dolly Achenbach.

Others requesting prayer are Terry Peeks, Joe and Geraldine Nelson, Gerald West, Doc Bagby, Frankie Carlton, James Whitfield, Karla Aponte, Roosevelt Clayton, Garrett Valentine,

Denny Brown, Loretta Wallace, Theresa Delsoin, Gary Carlton, Polly Stuart, Tom and Doro thy Hoskins, Curtis and Maxine Davis, Pete Johnson, Randy Moallankamp, Bill Edwards, Quaelin Nelson, Bob and Anne Simpson, Doris Bland, Fred Moallankamp, Billy and Janet Ranks, James Box, Sam Brim, Tom

Stuart, Walter and Glenda Mcalister, Arthur Stevenson.

Continuing with those needing prayer are Larry Mcalister, Nancy Stuart, Linda Tinsley, Tina Johnson, Mary Ann and Lynn Adams, Ed Hoskins, Gloria Carlton, Bob Hogan, Garry Smith, Ruby Shanks, Judy Whitehead, John and Sue Steers, Charles Price, Diane Cross, Betty Armstrong, Stanley Newell, Peggy Keith, Neill and Jeanie Taylor, Bobby Cunningham, and Katherine Newell.  We had a good lesson from Come and have lunch with us at Happy Days. The cost of the meal for seniors is $3,00.  For those under the senior age the cost is $6.00.

Don’t forget to remember those in the disaster of Waco, Texas, Boston, and last but not least. the families of the shooting of Sandy Hook in prayer.  There is so much meanness going on in this world, people have left Jesus out of their lives.

Until next time, remember God loves you and we do too.  SMILE and make or be a friend Check on your neighbor especially if they are elderly.

See Ya! At Happy Days

Happy Days: February 7, 2013

by Mary Feissinger
Well I just got back from Happy Days.  It was so cold out it was almost tempting to stay home.  But we had a good lunch of Beef’n Noodles green peas combination salad bread and strawberry shortcake.  Of course you got your choice of water tea lemonade or coffee to drink. There was a young man from Shawnee College asking us seniors our first memory of Cairo.  I want attempt to call his name as it was an odd name.

Of course I was born and raised in Burns, Tenn,  I went to grade school there and finished high school in Dickson, Tenn.  I graduated in 1958.  I came to Villa Ridge, IL. to visit my brother in July of that year after I graduated in June of 1958.  I never returned back to Tenn.  At this time I was 19 yrs. old.  Everyone says I went to college and majored in journalism.  But not so I just finished high school.

I was good in spelling and social studies and that’s what it’s all about.  Knowing how to put sentences together with meaning.  It was sad as I really loved school. Well enough talking a bout me.  We still want to remember these kids mother Linda who is dying with pancreatic cancer.  The children’s names are Mallory, Jane, and brother, Wayne.  They ask for prayer on the prayer line at church.  So my sister from Nashville, Tenn. ask me to add them on my payer list.
We also want to remember our fellow seniors in prayer.  Lynn and Mary Ann Adams went to St. Louis Wed. for her to have surgery early Thurs. morning.  They definitely need our prayers as Mary Ann has a problematic surgery.  We also want to keep Tommy Ice’s family in our prayers.  Others requesting prayer are Edith Ice June Laughlin, Kathryn Eppes, Barbara Sneed, Nanie White, David Hill, Patsy Simmons, Mae Fleming, Barbara Hoppe, Wila Coardes, Louise Sims, Rosemary Peeks, Mike and Bunny Ice.

Continuing with those needing prayer are Doc Bagby, Terry Peeks, Marion Rose, James Whit field, Mary Satterfield, Dolly Achenbach, Jack and Margaret Baurer, Joe and Gerakdine Nelson, Peggy Keith, Frankie Carlton, James Box, Gerald West, Roosevelt Clayton, Jerry Kepner, Garrett Valentine, Denny Brown, Gary Carlton, Sam Brim, Curtis and Maxine Davis, Polly Stuart, Randy Moallankamp, Bill Edwards, Tom Stuart, Doris Bland, Bob and Anne Simpson.
Still needing prayer are Billy and Janet Ranks, Larry Mcalister, Arthur Stevenson, Gloria Carlton, Karla Aponte, Walter and Glenda Mcalister, Bob Hogan, Nancy Stuart, Loretta Wallace, Theresa Delsoin, Tom and Dorothy Hoskins, Linda Tinsley, Tina Johnson, Ed Hoskins Qualein Nelson, Fred Moallankamp, Ruby Shanks, Pete Johnson,  Judy Whitehead, Garry Smith, Charles Price, Diane Cross, Neill Taylor Stanley Newell, Betty Armstrong, Shooting at Sandy Hook in Conn., and Bobby Cunningham.

Until next time remember God loves you and we do too.  SMILE and make or be a friend. Pray for the unemployed of Tamms and Dwight prisons.

It was a cold rainy night but two sisters of the church and I still attended the Charleston, Mo. revival.  It seems like the worst the weather the more comes out.  But it was well worth us going.  Travis, the preacher sure has brought forth some good sermons, our former preacher, Walter McAlister, was there and is going to attend tomorrow night.  We were fortunate to visit with him, and wife, Glenda, Sun.  We then went to Boomland for lunch before us returning home for our food for potluck at 5:00 p. m. Oh what a cold damp day today.  It was a good day to sleep in. But I had too much to do, as I didn’t get the senior citizens news written. I went over for lunch at Happy Days and was glad to get back home.  I stayed rather busy Sunday attending church and a potluck at 5:00 P. M.  We went back for that and yum! was it ever good. They had ham hot rolls and all the trimmings.  As of Oct. 1st we had our first meal cooked at Smiles and delivered to the Cairo site.  It wasn’t bad. We had spaghetti, salad, lima beans, bread and fruit cocktail for desert.

There were several changes as of Oct.1st. The change of cooking the food and Linda Owens will no longer be our site manager.  DeaAnn Crown will be our site manager but if we have any complaints we take them to Rosemary.  She is still our outreach / coordinator.  The flu shots have been changed from Oct. 8th to Oct. 4th.  So mark your calendars any one interested in getting one.  Also be sure and
bring your Medicare or Medicaid card with you.
